Duets went live in week 6, and after a long break the contestants showed some signs of rust.  Whether it was the nerves or just a couple weeks of rest and relaxation, the contestants weren’t at the top of their games, but when you’re teamed up with a superstar it doesn’t matter.  Speaking of superstars, a blonde Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Jennifer Nettles, and Robin Thicke opened the show and warmed the audience up for the contestants.  Jennifer Nettles announced she is having a baby, and the biggest news of the night, the decision is finally in America’s hands.  That’s right America, the voting lines are up and you decide the fate of the Duets contestants.  With that being said, let’s analyze the performances.

Team Jennifer Nettles

Team Jennifer is the only team with two contestants still in the competition.  Jennifer Nettles’ first Duet partner of the night was John Glosson.  John Glosson is a big man with a big voice, and he displayed that vocal power live on week 6 with a duet version of Josh Groban’s “When You Say You Love Me”.  He and Jennifer gave a solid performance, but it will be interesting to see if America can connect to John’s more formal style of singing.  John is still struggling with the showmanship part of this competition, but if America takes a liking to this Georgia native he will go far.

J Rome, J Rome, J Rome!  J Rome is by far the best contestant on Duets, and he continued his amazing streak of excellent performances in week 6.  Singing Usher’s “Without You”, J Rome and Jennifer showed the other contestants what a professional Duet can do.  J  Rome has wowed the judges for five weeks straight, and now the question is can he wow you America?  Vocally, this was J Rome’s weakest performance, but his weakest performance is still better than a lot of singers in the business today. J Rome is clearly the front runner of this completion, so America his fate lies in your hands.

Team Robin Thicke

Olivia Chisholm is Team Robin’s remaining contestant, and it’s a shame that Robin Thicke and Olivia just don’t have the chemistry to sing together.  Olivia and Robin sang “Need You Now” by Lady Antebellum, and Olivia was all over the place vocally, struggling to find the right pitch to blend with Robin Thicke.  Olivia has struggled throughout the Duets competition, and though she is a very attractive young woman, she is clearly the weakest contestant and will likely be the first person America will have to send home.

Team Kelly Clarkson

Jason Farol was apparently the only contestant to practice during his break off of Duets.  Jason showed signs of being a superstar, performing Duffy’s “Mercy”.  He and Kelly were ready to win America’s votes in the live performances, with Jason’s boy band looks, and Kelly’s sexy new body and hairdo.  The only thing that might hurt Jason a little is the fact that his partner Kelly Clarkson threw her shoe at J Rome at the end of J Rome’s performance.  It was all in good fun, but America may not share Kelly Clarkson’s sense of humor at the whole incident.

Team John Legend

John Legend and Bridget Carrington took a big risk in week 6.  Taking on Beyoncé’s Halo may not have been the best song choice to win votes with America.  Bridget struggled a bit with pitch problems, and neither performer was able to capture the emotions of such a beautiful ballad.  “Halo” is the kind of song you need to really do well on, because Beyoncé set such a very high bar.  Bridget did not deliver the goods this week, and it could cost her big with America.

The results of week 6 on Duets are still undecided America.  The fates of the contestants are in your hands.  What were your impressions of this week’s performances?  Who was your favorite Duets contestant?  Make your decisions on ABC.com or on Duets Facebook page before 11:59 PM tomorrow.  Until then we will all have to wait and see who will go on to the final four of Duets.
