A new search engine recently hit the Internet, it's a serious Google competitor, and it's clear they are out to break Google's shell. Does Google have something to worry about?

Well, let's cut down to DuckDuckGo's primary mission, it's mission is to promote that Google stores personal information about you, without you even knowing. DuckDuckGo uses this against Google, by stating that DuckDuckGo's interface is clean and simple, it's anonymous and your information and searches are not tracked.

The only bits of information that is recorded, is key statistic information, that isn't personal and search terms you've searched previously so they pop-up quicker next time you search for them.

DuckDuckGo's privacy policy is clear and consise, it consists of several images with text above each one; explaining how Google uses your personal information to target you with advertisements, share information about you and "grass" you up to authorities.

The interface of DuckDuckGo, is fairly simple. There's a search bar, with a search button, and 2 drop-down menus. The first drop-down menu is selecting what type of results you want e.g Web, Video, Images etc.. the other one is for information related to DuckDuckGo such as Feedback, Forums, Help, About, Privacy Policy and Terms and Conditions.

What I particurarly like about DuckDuckGo is that you can customise almost every aspect of it's interface for your own personal use, without having an account. It uses cookies to store the settings you chose. The kinds of settings you can change are background colour, text colour, link colour, border colour, whether you want to see advertisements or not, whether you want to see the sidebar and much more. Unlike Google where it forces targetted advertisements to you based on your personal information, DuckDuckGo gives you the option, and whatever you choose it's still anonymous.

I adore this search engine and use it as often as I can. The public needs to know. The anti-privacy policy of Google should make it a must avoid. Great Article!

Thanks for reading! :)
