Twitter is a social network that lets you connect with people on the internet. They follow you and you, in turn follow them. Than, they tweet things and people respond. That's the basic concept of Twitter. Simple, right? Twitter is mostly beneficial to celebrities. They get to spread word about their music and see how much fans they have. Meek Mill, who is a rapper, got his career started using Twitter. He wanted to make a song with Rick Ross and his followers tweeted to Rick Ross. Rick Ross noticed Meek Mill's potential as an artist and signed him to a deal. Now, Meek Mill earns millions of dollars. Twitter can help you get noticed and help boost your career.

However, their are a couple of shortcomings of Twitter. You don't always have a great relationship with the people on Twitter. They are following you because you are following them. You may find what they tweet interesting but you won't have a personal conversation with them. The internet is a  place where you can be spied on easily. You have to be careful not to release information that is too personal. Some celebrities have ruined their image because of Twiiter. Marcus Jordan, son of the great NBA player Michael Jordan, tweeted a message meant for a porn-star that he wanted to meet up with her again. He meant to send it as a message but tweeted it instead. He deleted it after he found out what he did, but it was too late. The next thing you know, Marcus Jordan became a trending topic. My only warning to you about twitter is don't tweet information that come back to haunt you. And don't tweet anything bad about work. I know people who have gotten fired for that. Like Spider-Man's uncle always says "with great power comes great responsibility."

I'm trying to figure out if I should start tweeting. This certainly puts a different perspective from all the praise I've been reading about twitter. Thanks.

It can't hurt. But don't get discourage if it doesn't bring in 100's of extra hits. You do have content is valuable.

If I could just get the handle @JBieber on twitter, then maybe I can get a couple of extra hits on my EC articles. lol

I've started using twitter recently, and I agree with you. There really is a lack of personal connection between you and followers/ the people you follow. It sometimes seems like the whole point of twitter is having more followers, instead of actually interacting with them.

Thank you for sharing your views about twitter.
