Don't see it as a hard thing

Text: Deuteronomy15: 18 – It shall not seem hard when you send him away free from you, for he has been worth a double hired servant in serving you six years. The Lord your God will bless you in all you do (New King James Version).

The Bible is a complete book about life. A brother went to learn how to trade on Motor spare parts under one man from the eastern part of Nigeria. After 4 years of service, the man asked him to go. The man levied all forms of allegations on him. This brother never received a query within that 4years. The father of this brother had to go to hear from him. The man confirmed that indeed the boy did not do anything only that his eyes look like that of a criminal. Enough reason indeed to drive someone under you for 4 years? Such act is common among many Businessmen and Artisans. They do it in order not to give them something at their freedom.
Today, God is telling us that we should not see it as a hard thing to free people under us. It is even a thing of joy that your wards are now free and have become greater than you. No parent indeed prays that his child will not be greater than him. Is it not to your own credit to have trained such person? That ward in your house is a messenger of God and should not be misused (2 Chronicles 36: 16). When it is time for their freedom, grant it to them. Note what the Bible says in the following passages: Romans 14: 12, 1 Peter 4: 5 and Ephesians 6: 9. God will bless you if you obey these words.

Food for Thought: Kindness and liberality to servants are means of securing not only their goodwill and fidelity, but also the blessing of God.
