Oh Visceral games, Oh Visceral games, what have you done to Deadspace?

Never in my life have I been so disappointed. The masterpiece that was once Deadspace has dissipated in matter of 5 minutes. The new Deadspace 3 E3 demo shattered my hopes and dreams for a Tri-quel. It’s like that feeling in the pit of your stomach that something bad is going to happen. Well, it did. And its in a form if a what is bound to be a disastrous third installment of the Deadspace series.

What I enjoyed the most about the Deadspace series was the roots it had in horror. The dying breed of survival horror is coming to an end. Its games like Deadspace that gave me hope for its survival. Now, hope is dwindling. According to the demo, Deadspace 3 will now have a co-op story mode. Which I find to be a good thing when you have the bros over. The new character that will be fighting alongside Isaac Clarke is John Carver. What I deeply and I mean DEEPLY do not like is the inclusion of action based gameplay.

Now what exactly does Visceral hope to gain by adding action into the mix? Isn’t Deadspace all about plasma cutters and “cutting off their limbs”? Now I may get a lot of hate for saying this. But ever since the release of Modern Warfare, the gaming industry has changed forever. It’s action sequence gameplay has seeped into other gaming genres like Horror, which I think have no place at all. I shudder to think what the gaming industries future has to hold.

Although I feel hope has gone out the window. Visceral has not let fans down yet,  hopefully the action sequence in the demo is only a part of a chapter … fingers crossed!

What do you think about the new Deadspace 3 demo? Do you feel games like Modern Warfare have changed other gaming genres?
