Contemporary Arts Have Rooms for Literature

Literature has been reinvented through time. From the more formal structure, it has evolved into a new form of contemporary expression by the modern-day artists. This particular form of literature is writing. In general, writing is a method of putting ideas or information into a visual form of language called words. There are different varieties of writing literature and each has its distinct style. Some examples are essays, fiction, epic, poetry, etc.

Writing in group of verses is called poetry. This makes it very special and distinct compared to other sorts of literature. Wordsworth defined poetry as “spontaneous overflow of powerful feelings.” Traditionally, poems are written out of ones authentic and deep-seated emotion. The typical nature of writing poems is by formally choosing words that are not used oftentimes. Words are sometimes intentionally chosen to construct rhymes to stress a significant point. Rhyming words is not much of a requirement though. What makes poetry very decent is its use of precise words, including profound metaphor and imagery.

In the 21st century, there is this rampant freedom of expression. Especially with the advent of music and technology and the combination of both, it has almost become an ordinary element of living and a vital part of communication. Other than writing, there are also other forms of expressing through contemporary arts. Painting, graphics designing, and digital arts are some examples of this. It becomes popular nowadays that almost everyone wants to embrace it.

There are a lot of things that people find it hard to express. Thus of saying it, they use arts instead. One of the most common examples is writing. Not all are talented writers obviously but anyone who wishes to write can write. The only requirements to be able to write is to have an abundance of idea and basically to have least a piece of paper and a pen. Everything people want to say, which they can not verbally voice out, they use writing as their outlet of communicating. It does not have to follow all the technicalities of writing. Even their reason of writing and the grammar usage are sometimes least among the considerations.

When some contemporary artists write about their insights, usually it appears to be arranged in small paragraphs. Their works greatly affected by their experiences, beliefs or their simple environment they see everyday. As a result, what they have written is a poem – a piece of literature. Once musical notes are put in what they have written, it becomes a song or music. When people recognize the song and get entertained with it, the one who makes it becomes popular and earns money and fame in return. This makes contemporary artists so admired.

However, it seems as if the main goal of the modern-day artists is to entertain and to perform rather than just writing for mere sake of embracing literature. In addition to that, technicalities of writing the lyrics, which originally is a poem, are sometimes least considered. There are many songs that have become acknowledged by the public simply because of its melody or because the one’s who perform it is legendary. To whether it is valid for literature as per technicalities, no body usually cares.

Even so, the product of their works is an art. And art is itself a freedom of expression that appears to be pleasing to the senses and emotions of the ones who make it. What others might think about it is only secondary. The artist is the one that defines the art and not the any kind of rule set up for standard by anybody. If it is used to entertain a crowd, which luckily welcomes the work of art, then the artist is a performer. Still, his works are part of literature and he still is considerable as a writer or a poem.

The issue on whether the so-called contemporary artists should be considered as poets or writers is actually quiet simple. Lots of people prefer to keep it debatable, though. Some of the technicalities might be missed out or disobeyed, but it is not enough reason to dishonor their works from the category of literature. Their works are part of the literature indeed. Poems in particular do not have to be perfectly structured. What is most important is the idea that they are going to convey. Although some ideas may seem so irrelevant and nonsense. The one who writes is a writer, according to Scott Lindsay. But it is not the mere writing itself that qualifies one as a writer; it is the passion that allows them to spend ample time they spend for their works. Their work could be bad, but that does not stop them from being a writer.

Anyone can be a writer and compose his/her own piece. There should be no restriction to become one. In fact, those who embrace writing as a form of conveying what they want to share or tell the world already show passion with literature.
