Conservation of Soil, Forest and Widlife Resources

Rare and valuable things in our natural environment should be preserved. Future generations have the right to enjoy such treasures. If we don't act now, we may be too late.

Soil Conservation. The top soil contains humus and nutrients necessary for plant growth. The topsoil is the most important part of the soil. How top soil preserved? By planting trees and by making sure that the field is always covered with plants are just some ways to reduce erosion. The ground should not be left barren. Trees provide barrier to the wind which are very helpful in protecting the top fertile soil.

Forest Conservation. Our forests are rich sources of raw materials for building and for manufacturing goods. The forests are also a home to many species of plants and animals. How can we preserve our forest? There should be an adequate control of logging. Select the correct tree size to cut. The slash and burn system should be stopped. The areas where trees have been cut should be replanted promptly. Some forest areas should be set aside as national parks. Any development or building of houses and big structures should not be done in these areas.

Wildlife Conservation. The best was to protect wildlife is by protecting their natural habitat. Destruction of their natural habitat usually happens through the use of land for farming or housing. Habitats may also be destroyed by pollution of the environment, by destructive natural disasters such as forest fires, and by flood caused by deforestation. The forests are the richest sources of wildlife and preserving the forests is a good start in preserving our wildlife.

The forests are not only areas that we need to preserve. We must use all of the available resources wisely. Everyone should be willing to participate in activities and programs that will help conserve our natural resources.
