When Sharon L West first pulled up an article of mine for lack of citation. Oh Crap! Is the first thought that came to my mind. And ignore it! I had planned to do. But then Sharon, very kindly, explained to me how I could make a citation for that post in particular.
It seemed easy and so why not? I re-considered. Putting in a line shouldn't be much of a problem. I did update the article. Sharon was pleased and complimented me. Thank you! But that was not the end of it and yet another article was pulled up for the same reason -Lack of citations!
It was starting to get my goat. Who cares what we write? All these writing websites contain so much of crap anyway. What companies need is content to post their advertisements upon! Really, isn't that mostly true? Maybe, maybe not!?All these questions will be addressed in future columns.
But I learnt somethings from making those citations that were asked for and so here I am sharing it with you'll. Addressing the first question of this column's title Citations - Why and How.Citations enhance the credibility of your column. Makes it more believeable and likeable to human readers.
As to the second question posed in the title. I am no expert in making citations but I am trying by best. Most of what I have learnt in how to make citations is from Sharon. Quote source of knowledge or information. How you describe it is an ongoing creative endeavor.
All the best people -fellow writers! I feel for you as I do for me because I know the trials and tribulations that you must be going through everyday inorder to pursue our dream of success in online writing. My thoughts are with you!
PS: Please remember to include citations in all the columuns you are submitting and will be submitting to Expertscolumn or EC. I for one don't want to be banned from this site because of lack of citations! I believe EC is going to be strict about including citations in your columns.

Thanks, avi dear, for this column. Take care.
Thanks Avi for the share. I have been pulled as well and thats quite an ethical ask. Sharon told me that if it's your personal view then even that can be explained in your writing to make it more clear that it is just your opinion. Even that is acceptable so long as you state it clearly while writing.
I have been pulled up on citation by Sharon L West too :) I thanked her for pointing it out and promptly deleted the offending articles and posted them on another site I write for.
In my instance I either couldn't cite the source of my information because the point was a matter of my own personal opinion or because even though I did state where information was from I didn't know the exact date or issue of the publication ooops!
You are not alone my friend and I guess that is all part and parcel of being an internet writer I will just have to make sure I cite better here in future. :)
