Just a few options will help keep your blood pressure, cholesterol and homocysteine levels in an acceptable range. You cannot afford to skip these super foods. Almonds provide vitamins and minerals that aid your heart. They're full of arginine, amino acid that your body uses to produce nitric oxide, as well as magnesium and calcium, which helps maintain a healthy blood pressure. They help keep arteries clean by preventing LDL, "bad cholesterol".

Another surprising super food is oranges. This citrus fruit supplies over 4 grams of fiber and 55 mcg of folate, nearly the recommended intake per fruit. Folate breaks down an amino acid in the blood that damages the lining of arteries and promotes blood clots. People who consume oranges have a 20% lower risk of stroke and cardiovascular disease.

Blue berries are packed of antioxidants and phytoflavinoids. They are high in potassium and vitamin C. They can lower the risk of heart disease, cancer and are anti-inflammatory. Inflammation is the key to all chronic disease, so blueberries are really one of the super foods

Eggs and Flaxseed have the omega 3s and have the added benefits of being high in mono unsaturated fats that can lower cholesterol. Aim for three servings a week. Some evidence is available that they reduce depression as well.
