A body wrap is one of the worst things you can do to your body. It's a total scam. And here's why.
There is no scientific evidence that body wraps burn fat. The only way to melt fat is with diet and excercise (granted some healthy supplements may contribute to weight loss). The truth is, body wraps are nothing more than bandages, or sometimes clay, that are soaked in herbs. And we're supposed to be believe that you can lose inches off your body in just an hour. Sit down and think about that for a moment. How is that even possible? People spend months, sometimes even years on diet programs. Truth be told, if you stick to a diet, it does work. Anyone who disagrees falls into the category of the people who diet, and fall back into their old ways, causing them to gain the weight back.
Many of you may be wondering what exactly a body wrap is. It's pretty much a material, whether it be bandages, clay, even seaweed, soaked in herbs. How it works (and this is usually performed in a salon or spa), is by wrapping the client (or yourself) in seaweed or clay, which has been infused by herbs. They tell you to wrap yourself, beginning from the ankles, after measuring yourself in over 20 different areas. You must remain in the wrap for one hour. During this time, the spa technician will usually tell you that you can either relax, or jog on the treadmill/excercise for the hour. Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but who's to say you don't actually feel better and slimmer after the hour? But it's not because of the wrap...it's because you were excercising.
While body wraps may temporarily tighten your skin, it's not permanent. You see, it's not really taking off fat. It's simply water weight, and water retention. So basically, it's not reducing your WEIGHT at all, it's just reducing your inches. This is not likely to last, either. While I was unable to find any evidence that a body wrap could be harmful to your body, common sense leads us to be cautious. Detoxification can be defined as the elimination of toxic materials inside tissues, cells, and even in your bloodstream. This is done best by a body cleanse, or even a body detox. This can be done naturally, or by using supplements with the right herbs in them. What the companies don't tell you is that body wraps are not the most effective way to lose weight. How a body wrap works is by soaking herbs onto certain materials right? By placing them on your skin, your body is able to absorb them. But they won't be in your system for long. It would be much more effective to detoxify your body by changing your diet or taking a vegetable capsule to enhance the process.
It breaks my heart that so many companies are so profit-motivated. Websites such as bodywraps.com and "wrap yourself slim" are prime examples of this evil. Why lie to the customer? Why not find something that actually works? Legally, they can do this, too. By advertising that you can lose "inches" they're right. You will lose inches. Temporarily. Once you drink enough water, or eat a good solid meal, you'll start gaining it all back. Losing weight and losing inches, again, are two very different things. It's sad that there is no honesty anymore. Because really, who wouldn't appreciate a product that was honest about its results?

I will be trying this It Works! products for the first time this Friday. Now I understand that the author of the article does not refer to this company directly in this article...It's more to the use of body wraps in general. This "It Works!" company is all the rage in my area right now and I just find it a good excuse to hang with the girls. I can say I have not been pitched on it being a weight lose thing... just on the inches lose thing... now I don't need to loose weight. I'm 115lbs and where depending on the company jeans in size 0 to 4. But what I am interested in is tightening up my skin my tummy and butt and legs. I'm getting older and things are beginning to sag...lol. My friend who is also interested in this product is small like me but she has had 2 kids and has a lot of excess skin and horrible stretch marks. Again, not really interested in weight loss just the whole promise of toning up. From what I can tell from friends who are using this what it does for them is by looking slimmer they feel better about themselves. I'm hoping just not to feel so self conscience at the gym so I feel like working out...lol. Maybe that is the boost people need for weight lose. As far as a detox goes I'll let you know how well it works... but I can say taking pills as a detox has never given me inches.
I will be back after this weekend to let you know my thoughts... I will also be posting it on my blog... I'll be sure also to post the inches according to one area at a time. Not adding them all up to make them sound more amazing. And I am going to keep track and see how long it takes for the inches to return without using another wrap since I am not a junk food addict, I live a pretty healthy lifestyle...so I think I would be a good candidate to find this out.
I have no intentions of selling these things...I don't get into that kind of thing no matter what I think of a product. i just love to test products. I am a firm believer that in finding out for myself...however in regards to this product you would be hard pressed to get to test it out for free which is what I usually look for.
I also use these body wraps and can say that they do work. However, they don't work by making you lose weight in an hour. I used to weight in at about 200lbs or more at my heaviest when I was only a teenager, so I am stuck with stretch marks and loose-ish skin. I found that the It Works! wraps have toned my skin and reduced the appearance of many of my stretch marks. I also lost 6 inches total off of my abdomen on my first wrap. They should not be mistaken as a weight loss solution, but they should not be called a scam either. Like any product, it should be tested to see it if is right for you. I was skeptical about these wraps so I tried one and did not regret purchasing them afterwards.
Who ever recommended using preparation H doesn't know what they're talking about. The It Works! wraps detox your fat so you can lose weight, tighten and tone easier. Detoxing is part of a healthy lifestyle, especially when you consider how many toxins are in the food, air, and water. I wouldn't rub Preparation H on my body, that is just nasty. Plus, I highly doubt you lost 15lbs of water weight in one night because that would probably kill you.
I am not a representative from It Works! FYI. But for those who are skeptical about the wraps and the other products, try them first from someone (if you can) then purchase them. I would not sign up as a loyal customer for a product I never tested, as there is a chance it will not work.
I can't believe no ones posted a comment to you yet! Where is your scientific evidence that it DOESN'T work? Keep your negative comments to yourself. Show me what your doctor says about wraps, and I'll show you mine. Lets compare the facts!
THis person on here must be like 10yrs old & really immature from the way you are talking. IT WORKS WRAPS really do work. If you haven't tried it then don't speak about it!!! I use them and KNOW IT WORKS. NOT WATER LOSS. Someone needs to do their research more. Talking about proof. Where is your documents or proof that IT WORKS WRAPS is water loss etc Tell my why the company is a DEBT FREE company or has grown 438% in the last 3yrs. There's a reason for that. Because the business wouldn't be the business if the products didn't work. Obviously people are wanting these products, using these products, and wanting more products. So think again.
Hi, thanks for your story. Have you tried the it works! body applicators? With It Works! it is NOT water weight, we do not wrap your entire body and we do NOT get you to exercise. Sweating would prevent the botanicals from getting absorbed. We want you to drink as much water as possible to prevent dehydration and so you do NOT mistake your inch loss as water weight. the results are long lasting, as if you worked it off in the gym. We have many distributors who are fitness professionals and trainers. they are our biggest supporters. Please feel free to contact me so you can try on of our wraps so you too, can change your mind. The biggest skeptics turn to be our biggest fans, or should I say slimmest?
I can only imagine the number of reps and people associated with "It Works" and other similar products are posting here. Funny how pro athletes and fitness models (men/women) never use these products.
If people done any research using this product alone will only be temporary. If it truly worked we wouldn't need to have a healthy diet and exercise. All these products are just promising quick results like any other so-called 'great miracle' of the 21st century when our body has not changed one bit in response to healthy lifestyle.
I'll believe it once there's a scientific evidence using hydrostatic body fat measurement with people using nothing but these products and eating like crap hoping products like this will give them some sort of miracle.
I can bet $100 that their numbers are nothing but water for the most part. If you lost five to six inches within a week in true fat loss you're only lying to yourself. Drink enough more water and those numbers will just come right back.
As much as I like to say posters that aren't very informed on these products but if you're considering it, please do your own research. There is absolutely no reason people should need this product. In fact, go wrap yourself with saran wrap for couple days and get similar results. I can tell you how to lose 10 lbs in a week with just water weight alone but will not as it's a very dangerous method. It can be done but long-term solution? Never. Your body will always try to balance itself whether it's being unhealthy or healthy.
I did not believe then I tried the wraps for 12 hours and I lost 4 inches off my waist. I only came across your blog because I really want to know what happened to me.
So, if the body wraps, as Some Commenters on this page assert, do work, what exactly is the mechanism of action which makes it so? The mechanism of action for exercise to aid in weight loss is the increased metabolism combined with a resultant increase in oxygen efficiency; however, what is the MOA for these wraps?
Unless you have personally tried It Works, I don't think that you have the right to call it a scam. It truly does work. If anyone is dieting or exercising, it is a great supplement to help you meet your goal. Regular maintenance will help keep your body firmed, toned, and tightened. I know... I use them.
To date, no empirical data through valid research exists to show It Works does anything more than reducing water weight. Nothing other than testimonials. No science to support it at all. Sorry, nice try. The only way people buy into this are through its employers aggressive internet campaign aka the Kool Aid effect. If you want to replicate It Works, just wrap yourselves in Saran Wrap, the herbs do nothing and if you think Im wrong why hasn't It Works posted up the research to support it.
Using herbal wraps multiple times will provide skin firming results that are quite measurable. Coupled with a healthy diet, exercise and improved lifestyle that avoids exposure to chemicals will help maintain your improved skin tone and body condition. Choose spas or herbal wrap systems that come highly recommended by friends or by on-line reviews.
Herbal wraps help reduce the size of the fat cells in your body through detoxification. By no means does a wrap burn up your fat cells. Only exercise can do that. Herbal wraps help breakdown fat cells on the surface. The wrap itself helps compress the body while the fat cells are being "cleaned." This results in a decrease in your measurements.
Thank you for this review. Simple common sense says proper diet and exercise are the only way to lose weight and stay fit.
If people need to "lose inches" temporarily to feel good about themselves, that's fine. They may spend their money however they choose. The same goes for the claims made about stretch mark and cellulite creams. The effects of such products are temporary, and you must use them constantly to maintain said effects.
To a sensible person, that is money that could be better spent elsewhere. Unfortunately, common sense is easily overlooked when people desire a "quick fix". A product like this is probably nice to use for a week or so before you go to a special event but, in the long-run, it's a financial commitment most logical people will not make.
I choose to invest my hard-earned cash in fresh fruits and vegetables, whole-grain carbs, and comfortable athletic clothing for the gym. I don't need anything more than that to stay healthy and in good shape.
As in any diet , if you just sit around on the couch and eat junk food ur going to gain the weigh back..... but if u do the wraps, take care of your body by eating healthy u will keep it off. same as u go to the gym then go get pizza and ice cream then whats the point ?
Each to there own. Stay positive in what you believe in & it will work for you. There is sceptic in all of us. Natural Remedies have been around for centuries in all cultures! We don't need science to prove why they work...they just do! We are all a part of Nature & Nature has something to offer for "all" ailments, we just need to try them :) "It Works" is a Natural Formula that does work for most people. "It Works" has never claimed to be a weight loss program! I do believe that some of the distributors have just been under informed on how to offer this product to the public!
Hi, I just wanted to say, in reguards to your post,.... These body wraps do work, I have seen it. The only problem is they are only a quick, temporary fix. A diuretic is really what they are. The sad thing is, people are paying so much money for this crap and you can do the same thing with HEMMORROID CREAM!!!!! I went into the army a while back and my recutr told me i needed to loose about fifteen pounds before I weighed in and then told me to go to the store, buy like five tubes of Preparation H and put it on my stomach, hips and thighs and wrap myself in saran wrap and go to bed and it would be gone.. It really was!!! And I was so toned and tight looking too! I lost 14.2 lbs in one night, no joke! It was all water weight though just to get me in the door. Three days later, it started to come back but because i was in bootcamp, so it didn't stay long. Please don't buy these expensive wraps!!! Just go get you some Hemmorroid cream!!! Try it! You will see!
It is not water loss and you are actually encouraged to drink half your body weight in ounces of water during the 72 hours after you take the wrap off.
This article is uninformed & ignorant. I have never used the product and have no opinion on the product, but I'd you're going to make claims, don't make yourself sound foolish. Not credible.
everyone should be quite. Unless you have tried it.
Wow, it looks like the "It Works" spammers have found your review. I'll agree, one of my close friends has been sucked in by these people and now she's stuck selling this schlock. She seems to believe it, even after I pointed out that none of her clients look any different in her before and after photos.
I think a good rule of thumb is that anyone advertising a "detox" or "toxins" doesn't know anything about science. Especially if that same person is trying to sell you something.
wow. do some better research. people like you claiming medical knowlege are dangerous for this world.
I just did one a few hours ago and I lost 3 inches in 4 hours and yea of course it isn't permanent! Nothing is. That's why you maintain it and they tell u this so how is that a scam. The product does exactly what it says it will!
I went to a It Works demo and was very skeptical on if this would work as well, but I have to admit I did lose 5 inches in 45 mins and you could clearly see that my stomach went down. However, I also believe that watching what you eat and trying to do some cardio will help increase those effects. I'm on my second wrap this week so we will see how this works out before I really say if it works or if it does not work.
I only bought them because someone on my Facebook said it worked for her, and I lost 6 inches off my belly after the first wrap. I only weighed 124 pounds and wore a size 3 in jeans. So I wasn't looking to lose pounds, just slim up after having 2 kids. Those 6 inches were all I needed so I saved my other wraps. The results aren't permanent without diet and exercise. I never lost a pound, but did go down in jean size. I was so stoked to be a size 1 again! Lol! The girl who sold them to me said that the way they work is to remove toxins from your fat cells, so your body can break them down- and you drink lots of water so you pee out as much as possible. So they worked for me. I took before and after pics too. I lost 4 inches from my 2nd wrap, but I think that was because I was lazy on drinking water that time.
You lost 6 inches from your waist and only weigh 123lb and are a size 3? What did the wrap do...remove your internal organs? It's statements like that which confirm the pathetic science behind It Works.
i'm not saying that It Works! doesn't work but when you mention losing the inches and weight after drinking all that water and doing the wrap it just makes me think..because any good diet you do you start of with drinking that water and most people can honestly lose 5-10 or even 15 lbs just by drinking at least a gallon a day. your body stops storing the water because it's getting it constantly while you drink. so it's possible that the weight and inches lost have more to do with the water that you have to drink before and during and after the wrap.
does It Works actually work? or is everyone just drinking the company kool aid to sell it to their friends?
It Woks, works on a cellular level breaking down fat cells and while doing so you rid your body of impurities as you urinate. You do in fact lose inches...as I have lost 22 inches all over as a result. I didn't think that it would work, but tried it anyways. I drank tons of water during my wrap session [45 minutes] and did not pee...not until an hour after I took the wrap off. I did NOT lose water weight, because I wasn't dehydrating myself nor was I continuously peeing. When I did my first wrap I lost 2.5 inches off my belly. By the time 72 hrs rolled around, I had lost 6 inches!!! I ate normal during those 3 days, even drank beer. I as a result from losing these inches am down 5 lbs!!! Its been almost 2 months and still, I haven't gained those inches back. :)
You can't "break down" fat cells. Even when you lose weight your fat cells shrink, but they don't disappear. The only way to get fat cells disappear is to have liposuction. (Response from veterinarian with a masters in anatomy and physiology
"It Woks, works on a cellular level breaking down fat cells"
See? It is comments like this that keep intelligent, logically thinking people away from trying any of these products. This statement is absurd. HOW does it work on a cellular level? And HOW does it break down fat cells? Funny how nobody who ever says this stuff can explain it scientifically. Prove it, or stop talking. We are sick to death of the fanatical lies.
It works by putting your body into a fat burning stage called lipolysis. It targets the fat cells, pulling the toxins out of them. By increasing the circulation in the body, it detoxifies your system. You drink an average of 20/40 oz of water while wrapped and half your body weight in ounces over a 72 hour period. If you weigh 120 lbs you are only drinking 60 oz of water in 72 hours. How is that causing water weight loss? I am a distributor for ItWorks. A Double Diamond distributor at that, soon to be Triple Diamond. I have used the wraps myself and in 5 wraps I have lost 15 inches in my stomach alone and 4 total pant sizes, I have kept the inches lost off for OVER 2 months now. You are more than welcome to contact me if you'd like and I will explain it further scientifically. I have all the answers to an question you can possibly throw at me. Feel free to contact me via email. ItworkswithColbye at yahoo dot com
Good job. Congratulations on Triple whatever... because that matters in this conversation. The argument is that the product doesn't result in effective WEIGHT loss like so many people believe it to. It doesn't put your body in any stage because your body doesn't do any work! It's totally a measure of the body's decrease in water retention because it's flushing all the water you consume throughout the initial steps. You wrap, you drink, you bloat, you pee, then you measure. It's obviously a diuretic that eliminates your water weight. Don't contest it. A prominent acting ingredient in SkinnyWraps is, in fact, a diuretic. THEREFORE YES, it melts off inches. BUT NO, it doesn't last. OH GOD, WHY? Because they want you to keep spending your money and staying loyal to the product. They're not cheap, right? What sucks is that you'll continue a lifestyle that doesn't reflect what you're trying to achieve with the Wraps. Instead of maintaining a healthy diet and exercise regimen that will get you the SAME results, you'll rely on a product to make you look like you did the work needed, and it will eat your money as long as you think you need it. Or until you strap on a pair of running shoes. Or if you're okay with doing the work AND wasting your money on Wraps, that's frivolous, and you're probably way too vain at this point to turn back, so just go on and waste your money.
It's not a way of life! The only places I can think of where they would be useful are "right-now" situations like on your wedding day/photoshoot/highschool reunion, because as soon as you consume a normal meal and skip a scheduled wrap, you're back to the REAL you. I'd be pissed if someone told me "It works!" and gave me one of these.
Anyone who states that It Works wraps cause WEIGHT loss is not a good distributor...We DO NOT claim that the wraps lead to or cause weight loss, because that is simply, Not. True. We do encourage our clients to maintain a healthy lifestyle with diet and exercise. When was the last time you read the ingredient list on the back of the wraps? What exact ingredient are you calling a diuretic? OH, I'm sorry, you have never seen the ingredients? Nor the diuretic you so claim is a FACT that is in there? We are a COSMETIC company and we do have other products besides the wrap to help facilitate a healthy lifestyle. SO, until you have done the research on this specific body wrap, feel free to shut your mouth. Thanks.
they dont claim to make you lose weight and they actually tell you to eat healthy and exercise regularly. I have been using the wraps and havent lost any inches after like 6 wraps, but I did have horrible stretch marks from having my son and it has actually been reducing the appearance of them so they are barely noticable and for that alone I will keep using them. My skin feels amazing after using them and if you have loose skin from weight loss it does help to tighten the skin back up. Don't expect surgical results but its def an improvement!!

Finally someone with some common sense. I've done some more research, and yeah, a body wrap will take off maybe 10 inches but it doesn't last. It's only for about 6 weeks unless you do it WITH dieting and exercise. That's the only real way to lose weight.
I have been to many "It works" sessions and the consultant has always mentioned that the loss is not permanent UNLESS you follow a healthy diet and exercise. They even give you a time limit as to how long it will last. I don't think they are trying to pull the wool over anybody's eyes.
"In your face"? Really? Are we that immature? This is a columnist website, not myspace. My personal opinion is that a body wrap does not work, and it is in fact a scam. Don't like it, don't read my posts. Should I find another opinion from one or more people, not "anonymous" persons that say otherwise, perhaps I shall reconsider. :)
Personal Opinion is merely that...an opinion...not fact. Diet and exercise are vital when it comes to weight loss. However there are other non surgical techniques that have been proven to increase fat and weight loss.
To say something is a scam without legitimate facts to support it is ignorance. Do the research, try the products or services. At least then you will have a valid opinion supported by something other than your thoughts. There are body wraps out there that only provide temporary inch loss, however they also provide other benefits such as exfoliation, detoxification and moisture. To generalize all body wraps as a scam is ridiculous and no where near a fact.
I will say you are rightin the fact that it does need to be diet changes and working out. But if you sit and talk to an Itworks rep they will tell you that as well. They don't recommend that you only wrap and eat horrible. You are to continue to drink
Lots of water, eat properly and work out, or you will not get desired results that last. I am a workout fiend and I eat really well, except that time of month. But my second child did hell to my stomach and no matter how hard I worked out I couldn't get rid of the loose skin, the wraps really helped with that and gave me confidence to push even hard to achieve my goals.
Haha in your face who wrote this! ItWorks really does work so please stop bad mouthing ALL body wraps when clearly ItWorks really does work. I must admit you had me going that I belived you for a second.
Thank you! I also have done two wraps by ItWorks! Both times I lost inches. 2.25 on my stomach anf 3 inches total for both thighs. I am telling you that this did not come back and the only way it would is if you sabotage your results. It is hard to believe but ItWorks really WORKS!
Now what is to be said about detoxifying "body wraps" sich as those sold by ItWorks! ? This home based business sells body wraps that are meant to detoxify the body and tighten/tone skin along with reducing the appearance of stretch marks/ect... Users are encouraged to drink water while using and for 72 hours after use of the product.
I tried one for myself over one month ago and reduced my tummy 2.5 inches. In the weeks following I did not regain those inches! (And they are still gone today!) So I don't believe its fair to say wraps are bad without specifying!
Thanks for your time :)
I tried It Works body wrap and nothing happened. I waited the 72 hours and still nothing happened. My niece tried it too and nothing happened. I liken it to when you first join a gym and they measure you. they do not pull the tape too tight and then 6 weeks later they pull it tight and voila you lost inches! I measured myself and was sure about how tight I was pulling both times and not a difference. It Works does NOT WORK!
I To was not to sure , but I have seen a friend lose a large amout of belly fat . by using, it works body wraps once a week ..It has been about 2 months, and she went from looking 4 or 5 mos pregnant to a puch..I will be trying it myself this week.
I will let you know if it workks for me ! 4024lm
The problem I see with this itworks product is the misleading measurements.. They never tell u that the 4 inches I lost was from three measurments .. 1" above belly button an over my belly button and 1" under belly button.. The misleading thing going on is I only lost 1.5" in the circumference of my waste... NOT 4".. This is a perymid scam like amway... If u read back in 2003 in California there was a distributor that got sewed for 40k for misleading customers about this .. 80% of weight loss is ur DIET!!!
First of all, spell pyramid right.... second of all it is not a scam!! Pyramid! I was in amway, and that is why their company is not successful. We are successful and if u would like to know how we are successful then find a distributor in your area and ask her. Dont jumped to conlusion, and all of you negative people need to have a more positive life!! Go get some sarbucks then try our fatfighters. Those work great for all of u healthy eaters to. Or take a chill pill like our confianza!! Please, we wouldnt be successful if our products didnt work and we do have greens which was mentioned above, that is one of our top sellers and ours is cheaper than buying them from a health food store.
Clearly you are convinced that the wraps do not work without even researching the ingredients. Many of the ingredients are similiar to herbal supplements taken internally. They are just using them on the dermis. Many work on inflammation, circulation etc. I can't quote inches because everyone is different. If you do a cleanse internally everyone will get different results. it's just a different delivery system. I am a natural skeptic but saw some great photos results so I thought I would give it a try. I lost a couple inches after the first wrap. More inches by 72 post wrap and they were still gone over 2 weeks later. That is not water weight! You lack of knowledge on many things is apparently by your post. On of these things you are clearly not educated on is network marketing. Amway is not a pyramid scheme. It was taken to court many years ago and they revamped their distribution program so everything was legal and ethical. A pyramid scheme is like a ponzi scheme. If there is a legitimate product being traded and distributed in a legally binding program it is not a pyramid scheme.
It Works! body applicators work from over 98.2% of people that try them. No one said this was for weight loss. It is for tightening, toning and firming. It Works! does not promote an unhealthy lifestyle. They have a complete body makeover program. The wrap is just a featured product of the company.
Here is how it breaks down... (Remember, the ingredients in the wrap are all natural, plant extracts and botanicals, very healthy "food" for your skin and deeper tissues.)
A. The ingredients promote Lipolysis. This literally means “fat-breaking”. The plant extracts and botanicals get into the fat cell and chop up the large fat molecules into little ones, which are now allowed to leave the cell. They are then burned up as energy somewhere else in the body, which is one reason why we want you to be well hydrated while you are using the applicators. This will help circulate the little fat molecules that are being released. This is HUGE and very important to know because the applicators (Body Wraps) are literally promoting FAT LOSS during this process!
B. The ingredients also release toxins from the fat cell. A major function of fat cells is to store toxins, so if we can release toxins, then we can achieve a shrinking of the fat cell.
C. The ingredients improve the microcirculation of the area being applied to. This is what creates some of that tightening, firming and toning effect. Fat tissue requires a great deal of blood vessels and such; if we can improve the microcirculation then we can improve the overall health of the area.
D. They have an anti-inflammatory effect. Fat tissue is terribly inflamed because of all the toxins and such. Again, we get tightening, firming and toning because we’ve increased the overall health of the area applied and reduce the inflammation of the skin.
Toxins? What are these "toxins" that fat supposedly stores? There is no such thing as"detox", a myth and buzzword made for marketing purposes only. Your body removes unwanted waste all on it's own. If it is referred to as a detoxifier it is just not so, a scam.
Learn some basic biology, so many of these socalled detox methods actually overload the liver and kidneys and impair them in their task to get rid of real so labeled toxins.
Proof, all that matters , not testimonials and anecdotes but actual scientific repeatable evidence.
And yeah it is a MLM, nuff said for those scams.
