Day One
Megan couldn’t stop crying. She had just received a text from her boyfriend Ben, she was dumped. Now Megan was heartbroken and single a week before Valentine’s day. Dumped a week before the most romantic day of the year, it was a cruel twist. Megan had thought she and Ben were the perfect couple, apparently Ben had thought differently. Ben was a jerk, she was done with all men, they were more trouble than they were worth.
She just didn’t understand what had gone wrong Ben had seemed happy, there had been no warning signs, nothing to prepare Megan for being dumped by the guy she loved. They had been together for over a year Megan had been sure he was the one.Megan cried some more and then decided she should head out to the shops, she was in need of some serious comfort food.
Megan tried to avoid looking at all the Valentine’s products that were on display, love was a bunch of bullshit to her now. The thing Megan hated the most about being out in public at this moment was having to fake a smile for everyone that said “hello” to her. The only small mercy was that nobody asked about Ben. If they had Megan was sure she would have burst into tears on the spot. She was also too ashamed to admit that she had been the one to get dumped.
Going to pay for the armful of junk food that she had picked up, keeping her head low to try and avoid looking at the cashier for as long as possible. It came to £18.95, handing the money to the cashier he gave her a shy smile, “have a nice day” he said handing her the bagged items. Megan gave him one of her fake smiles, “you too” she replied.
