Good nutrition and proper eating habits are important to the health of seniors. People with any age requires proper nutrition moreso with seniors who are prone to health conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension, kidney problems and other health problems. They need the essential nutrients and observe proper eating habits to keep a health body.

Here are some basic health ideas and eating habits for seniors:
Consult your doctor for any food that you need to avoid if you have certain health conditions. It may vary for various type of diseases for people. There are also food that has effect on certain medications, some has adverse effects so better be informed about it.

A registered dietitian can help in determining nutritional needs of seniors for nutrition guidance.
Be careful when chewing or swallowing the food. At this stage of life, body functions is less responsive than with young people. When preparing meal, consider chapping and grinding for better food digestion.

Light meals during evening and allow atleast an hour before going to sleep. One cause of acid reflux is going to bed immediately as the acid goes up to the esophagus.
Six to eight cups of non alcoholic beverage is still recommended for seniors to keep hydrated. Vegetables and fruits are always recommended for seniors.
