It’s a known fact that death is certain for us all. We all entered this world, and we must all exit from our physical form from it as well. People have many opinions on what happens after death. Some people believe there is an after life, while others believe when we shut our eyes, that’s the end of it all. No matter what your beliefs are when it comes to death, I think it’s safe to say that the thought of death frightens most people. The question I want to ask in this article is, is society afraid of death itself, or are we afraid of how it will happen?
We all enter this world innocent and with little knowledge. As we get older, we grow in body, knowledge, and wisdom. With age we all learn that we must face death. It’s funny how within our society a death is supposed to be a celebration. Instead most of us mourn when we lose a loved one. With the knowledge and wisdom that we gain throughout our lives about death, the question remains; Why are people afraid of death? If there is anything that we all learn is that nothing lasts forever in life. It’s in natures course for everything to blossom, bloom, and eventually wither away.
I can’t speak for anyone, which is why I’m writing this article. I personally believe that death itself is not what most of us fear. I believe that the unknown that comes with death is the most frightening thing for most. The fact that at any moment our lives can be over with little thought to it. None of us know when or how it will happen. We don’t know if it will be from natural causes, or from a sickness that brought us down. This is one of the reasons why I think it’s important for us to cherish this life. Tomorrow is never promised to any of us. It sometimes gets to me when I see people bickering and fighting over material items. Material items can’t go with you when you leave this world. Your legacy is the only thing that is left behind. What kind of legacy do you want to leave? How do you want to be remembered by people?
One thing I think most of us will agree with is that none of us want to suffer while dying. I think most of us would prefer a peaceful death with little to no pain. Unfortunately, we don’t have a choice in the matter. If there is anything that I want people to take from this article is to enjoy and appreciate being amongst the living. So many of our friends and loved ones are leaving. Like they say, everyday above the ground is a beautiful day. So what do you think about death? I would be very interested in seeing what anyone who reads this thinks. Thanks for reading.

I am not sure how I feel about death. Of course I don't like it, I don't like that it will happen to those I love and I don't like that it will happen to me. I don't want to leave this world, but when I have left it, it is likely that I won't know, but then again who knows what lies on the other side.
Well stated Rae. I agree with you 100 percent on that. I think the unknown is what frightens us most. Thanks for your reply.
Hi Brad....I must say, your writing is wonderful. Personally I'm not afraid to die...I've been more afraid to live for years. But I do agree that it is the unknown that scares most people and the actual act of dying....ie; while it be painful, how will it happen, will I suffer....As you say, we generally don't have any say in how we will go & that in itself kind of bothers me because I can't control it...It is a tricky question you have asked, my friend and one that will probably remain a mystery.....Thanks for another great article...

Hey there Robin. Thank you so much. You are such a sweetheart, and I always appreciate your thoughts on my writing. I value them greatly. I think that I can relate a lot to what you are saying when you say that you're not afraid to die, but that you're more afraid to live. I think back to certain opportunities that presented themselves in the past, and I didn't take them because I felt like the risks were too great. Looking back now, I wish that I would have made the most of certain opportunities. It can be a challenge living life to the fullest, even though we all know that we should. Thank you again for your feedback and kind words :)
" I believe that the unknown that comes with death is the most frightening thing for most." I also agree with you about that. I liked reading your post, friend. Thank you.
Thank you so much sir. I believe the unknown is the scariest part myself. I often think to myself how will I go and when I do, I try to think about something else. Thinking about things of this nature too much isn't good for us at all. Thank you again for reading.
