Mirai Nikki is one of the newer Anime that have come onto the scene, and it has caught fire, especially in the United States. The show is not dubbed quite yet, but the show is subbed, and you can find it on most Anime websites. I have had many true Anime fans tell me that the short, twenty-six episode series is a cross between the highly popular Death Note and the more obscure Eden of the East. There are so many reasons that you would want to watch this show.

The show features main characters Yukiteru Amano, a seventh grade kid who is forced to compete in a battle royale-like competition to determine who would succeed Deus as the role of God of Time and Space. There were twelve people chosen to take part in the competition including Yuki (First) and his classmate and stalker, Yuno Gasai (Second). The game was basically to do anything you could to survive against the other members of the game, and do anything necessary to be the last alive. Each of the selected twelve was given a future diary that each contained different types of entries that would update on its own, depending on how the diary worked and how events surrounding them played out. Each player would be identified by a number (First, Second, Third, etc.), and there were two ways a diary holder could die: if they were killed or if their diary were to break. That is the premise of the show, and I will not reveal any events to spoil the show for you.

However, I will tell you that the show gets a 10/10 from me. Mirai Nikki is inventive, original, and completely insane at points. Some of the plot twists that take place are ones that are difficult to predict, and this series is in a league of its own when it comes to insanity at times. Mirai Nikki makes you want to keep watching; I finished the show in one weekend because I just could not stop watching. The ending, though not as lacking as Soul Eater's ending, was quite dissapointing. However, they stated that the series would be reincarnated, probably in movie format. I will be awaiting this movie to give me some closure on certain events, but overall, the series kept me captivated. The show was overall amazing, in my opinion.
