Animal Instinct

The Sea World incident a few days back involving the death of a very senior trainer was really shocking.

Such incidents really bring out the unpredictable nature of animals.

I have been to many such parks and on hindsight when I think about my visit to the ‘Tiger Temple’ in Thailand, where I sat and took photographs with huge tigers just walking freely around you, just the thought of it, send shivers through my spine. We at times take for granted so many things and just shrug it off saying such things wont happen to us.

The killer whale incident really is an eye opene,r considering the fact that these intelligent mammals are really harmless to humans and they are not tuned to attack humans even in the wild.

So what exactly triggers these animals to behave in such unruly manner is a mystery. I have seen so many cases on television with elephants running wild and just going on a rampage. They just tear apart their mahout as though they were just some twigs. It’s amazing how we humans can control such powerful animals and keep them from realizing their own strength.

However there are such times when the animal just unleashes everything its got and that is when we are spectators to the power of the ‘Wild World’.

It really brings out the question as to, are we doing the right thing by training these animals and taking them away from their habitat, their free world, were they can roam and do what they want to. Are we right in confining them to unnatural space, with thousand of spectators clapping at their glorious feats without them really caring about those applause. Are we right in making them do freaked out tricks just for those little moments of cheap thrills, if I may say so?

Now what happened at Sea World will always remain a mystery, did that killer whale actually attack the trainer or was it just having some fun playing with her little realizing the power that it possesses. Many explanations will be given to what happened but the truth will always will remain with that individual animal. His behavior probably would reflect on his character and not of the entire species.

How much care should we take when we visit zoo is what we could learn from this incident. It would always be helpful to remember this incident and when we visit the animal kingdom next time, give the respect these animals truly deserve. They would probably be living a frustrated life every day and when their day is really bad, just hope that you are not in front of that poor soul.

Yeah Read about this freakish & scary incident. Took me back to my trip to one such sea world in San diego. The way the trainers were playing with the whales you got a feeling that these were huge Dolphins. I am sure these mammals donot enjoy what they are made to do. If you notice after every trick these mammals perform, they are fed fish meat. This goes to show that these whales are only fed if they perform or else they are made to starve. What's PETA doing here. Are they hand in glove with these money minting entertainment Czars.
