I am Proud of my Mother

It is true that we can't choose our parents, but I am lucky to be given a set of parents that I would be proud to call my very own. When it comes to mothers, I can't complain having one like my own mother, who I consider as an angel sent from heaven.

She is a mother to 7 daughters. I've seen how she managed to take care of all of us while doing household chores and budgeting the family's meager income. I thank her for bringing me and my sisters into this world and for showering us with her love. She brought us up to be well mannered, loving, and caring. I hope you enjoy reading this poem.

Voice of an Angel

It has been a very long while
Since you sang me a lullaby
While in the stillness of the night
Bright stars twinkled in the sky

Your voice was so sweet
It lured me to fall asleep
The tender touch of your lips
Caressed my pink delicate cheeks

You lovingly cradled me in your arms
And gently swung me as you hummed
How mesmerizing was that sound
It's the essence of a mother's love

I Learned a Lot

You were my very first teacher
I was your very smart toddler
I learned how to identify letters
And instantly became a scribbler

I learned from you how to say my prayers
To practice my faith and be a church goer
To honor you and my beloved father
To love and care for all my sisters

The Best Mother I've Known

There is no better mother than who you are
No one's embrace can give me such warmth
In times of sadness you can make me smile
You take away my sorrows and make life worth while

How I missed those days that passed
When I was just a helpless little child
You cared for me day and night
And taught me how to be good and nice

Now when I see the stars in the sky
That twinkle brightly on a quiet night
It makes me wish that someday I might
Be once again that helpless little child

You are the best mother I have ever known
The mother I've been proud to call my own
No one can equal the love that you've shown
I am thankful to God that to you I was born

Happy Mother's day to my dearest Nanay!

Note: "Nanay" is a Filipino word for "Mother"
