All New Foursquare Update: Review

After a long tease by the developers of Foursquare, they finally launched the all new redesigned app early Thursday morning. Foursquare promised an all new interface allowing you to be connected better with friends and making exploring an event, location or place more fun and friendly all with a slick new look. So what was in this update you may ask.

Foursquare didn’t just redesign the whole app completely with a new look, they also gave each user the ability to see what all of their friends are up to on their news feed. For example, you can now see all the things your friends “like” (or heart), such as a tip left by another user at a location or event. You can also see all other information from your friends, such as them adding something to their to-do list, or if they leave a tip, or if they add new friends. All of this information is going to be on your feed, as before your feed would just display all of your friends checkins. For those who share their activity with Foursquare through Facebook/Twitter are in for a surprise. Once you are connected to Twitter or Facebook, it will automatically share your likes, tips, to-do lists, badges, mayorships and all additional information on your accounts (Facebook and Twitter), which can be a bit annoying. Foursquare didn’t take anything away, as the whole point of the update was to “add more features".

Some have complained, saying there is too much “pointless information” in their news feed, which really gets in the way if you’re just looking to see what your pals are up too. Some are also complaining that the app is a complete offspring of Facebook and almost an exact replica of its interface.
