RKO Radio Pictures’ Suspicion came to movie theaters in 1941. Directed by the great Alfred Hitchcock and starring Cary Grant, Joan Fontaine, Cedric Hardwicke, Nigel Bruce and Dame May Whitty, Suspicion features Grant as suave gambler Johnnie Aysgarth, whose subsequent marriage to Joan Fontaine’s Lina McLaidlaw enters troubled waters when she suspects that he may be a killer. Suspicion debuted on November 14, 1941, earning three Academy Award nominations for Best Picture, Best Actress (Fontaine, won) and Best Music Scoring (Franz Waxman).
