Warner Bros'. Rope slithered into movie theaters in 1948. Directed by Alfred Hitchcock and starring James Stewart, John Dall, Farley Granger, Joan Chandler, Cedric Hardwicke and Constance Collier, Rope tells the story of a wily professor who snares two of his former students in their mad pursuit to commit the perfect crime. Made for $1.5 million, Rope debuted in Canada on August 23, 1948, capturing an Edgar Allen Poe nomination for Best Motion Picture.
