Affair With A Virgin Will Cure AIDS

Since the HIV and AIDS pandemic, there have been a number of misconceptions that have come about concerning the disease. Some of the misconceptions surrounding the disease can be quite understandable but others can be very unreasonable and shocking.
One of these unreasonable and totally shocking misconceptions about HIV and AIDS is the misconception that an HIV infected or AIDS infected person can cure themselves of the disease if they engage in sexual relations with a virgin.

This misconception up till today remains one of the craziest and most shocking misconceptions surrounding the disease. The misconception that having an affair with an unaffected virgin will cure AIDS began spreading in Sub-Saharan Africa and spread like wildfire across Africa and some other third world nations. Till today, this misconception is quite still prevalent in the continent and some other places of the world.
For instance in South Africa, this misconception has gained very strong grounds and causing great problems in the country. According to experts, this misconception is one of the biggest causers of HIV infections in South Africa and the reason sexual crimes are on the increase in the country in question.

“This myth or misconception is one of the reasons why HIV and AIDS is soaring rapidly in Africa” Doctor Salifu Amoako of the Korle Bu Hospital said
There is utterly no doubt that this misconception has increased the occurrences of incidents of adults abusing children, child molestation and even numerous rape cases of infants.
All these heinous acts are done solely because of the misconception that HIV and AIDS can be cured by having relations with an uninfected virgin.
