We all know important advertising is to the growth and success for any business, whether it is growing or to just keep a big business right in the minds of a person. The methods to grab the attention of potential consumers is rather numerous and obviously we know that attention has to be grabbed rather quickly, otherwise the sale is lost. One of the ways to advertise in the past has been billboard advertising. A billboard adverting a business, with a snappy slogan or logo or both, followed by contact information where the potential consumer can use.

People have drove by, looking right at those billboard advertisements on the highway, and they have gotten big business. Yet, there has been another form of potentially profitable advertising that can reach a wide variety of customers and unlike billboard advertising, there is little charge right out of pocket. That form of advertising being Twitter.

Regardless of what you think of Twitter and other forms of social media, there have been many businesses who have adapted social media for use to reach more consumers. The results have been mixed, but there have been those who have accomplished great success. It is not a matter of you using Twitter, but rather how you use Twitter.

In many ways, Twitter is like the billboard advertising of old. Given that you have a hundred and forty characters or less, you need to think of something short and snappy to grab the attention of a reader. Advertising a sale or just your business in general, along with your URL to get them to the website. Then the quality of your business and how well it appeals to the customer will do the rest.

Advertising is all about attracting consumers. Whether or not they stay around long enough for you to get anything out of your business, depends on the plan that you have developed. Twitter is but one method that can be used to build a relationship with your customers and lead to long lasting business.

Attract their attention with an enticing but truthful promise and then live up to said promise. Much like the Billboard Advertisements that you see driving down the street, Twitter is all about grabbing the attention of the customer quick. Twitter can be a powerful tool but it is a tool and how you use it will result in the success or lack of for your business.

Your article caught my eye because I just recently started using twitter to advertise my expertscolumn articles. I have found it quite an interesting experience, but am still having some starting difficulties (only started about 5 days ago). Do you use twitter? If yes, it would be great if you made a tutorial with tips on how to use it (and sent me the link) :)
