The 80 20 rule applies in nearly everything.

For example, 80% of the people in a country earns just 20% of the income in the country. The rich people, who accounts for just 20% of the population, earns 80% of the money in the country.

When it comes to article writing for passive income, you will find that the same rule applies.

If you have a hundred articles, you will find that only 20 articles constantly get page views. These 20 articles account for 80% of your income online.

The rest of the articles, that means all the 80 articles, rarely get views, and earn just 20 percent of the income for you.

What does that mean to an article writer?

That means that you cannot predict ahead which article will soar to the top spot in Google search result page. You cannot predict which article will be the winner for you.

You may find that the top 20% of the articles that roll in money are the ones that you have no confidence in.

What you think, and what the readers think, are two entirely different things.

You, as the writer, may think that this article is not of your normal standard. However, the readers may think that the article strikes a chord in them, and they ask all their friends to read.

Knowing this rule of 80 20 means that we just have to work harder, and review the statistics a couple of weeks later.

When we see that an article generates just ten page views in its entirely life time, we will not feel disappointed.

We know that some articles will get 5000 page views in a year. Most articles will get just 100 page views in a year.

There are some articles that never get more than ten page views.

Instead of worrying about increasing page views for those articles that never get any view, we should focus on marketing the articles that get a few thousand views.

These are our cash cows.

When you have a goose that lays the golden egg, it makes sense for you to take care of this goose.

No point spending time on the others, hoping that they can lay the golden egg as well.

Just remember that the rule of 80 20 applies to article writing. You must not expect all the articles to perform at the same rate.
