Read all about the disadvantages of writing for iwriter.com. Though iwriter.com seems to be a pretty decent site, it has got its own negatives around it. Here is a quick review on the negative points of iwriter.com depending on my experience there on the site.
Disadvantages of iwriter.com
-
Specific time limit is given to complete the work. Many slow writers feel strained to do the job working under pressure.
-
Fear of rejection – a requester can reject the work done by you even if the article seems to be too good. It depends entirely upon the requester as he can reject any article and he need not provide any valid reason for the rejection. I have many articles which are in fact rejected by the iwriter requesters which are doing well on other sites published in my name.
-
A rejected article may hamper your progress to be an élite writer really badly. A rating of 1 from one requester can bring down your career graph drastically on iwriter.
-
Not being able to see the bad reviews for the requester. Iwriter now has a policy of hiding the bad reviews given for the requester to create a positive impact in the minds of the writers. That needs to be changed.
-
Requesters need not give specific / valid reason for the rejection of the article. It is entirely up to the requesters.
-
Too many requesters with bad approval rates in the standard writers box. So it is extremely important to select the best requester with the best approval rate for the job.
These are the general negatives of the iwriter.com. If you feel that we have missed out any of the valid points about iwriter.com, please do point it out in the comments below.

Great article. Gave it a mention (and a link) on my blog, Living a Freelance Life. :)
I wrote some articles for them a while back. I don't recall much about, but since I deleted them from my bookmarks, I have to assume I was not happy for some reason. I just got an email inviting me to get elite status in 1 day to earn more money. I clicked on the link provided and after logging in was greeted with an error on a url of with mem=Your+account+is+currently+banned+due+to+low+rating appended to it.
I write for a lot sites and have good to excellent ratings, so this was a shock to me. Since I can't access the site, I have no idea what happened, but I won't be returning and asked them to remove me from their email list. Thought I would share the irony here as a supposedly banned for low rating offer was given the option to get elite in 1 day.
I worked with iwriter near about 8 months and submitting articles more than 850 and I am also a premium writer.
Last 1st June 2012 as per iwriter one of my article was copied and seized my entire amount (approx 75 dollar ). Now question is this if article was copied, this should have been blocked before submission as per their copyscape checking. This should not my tendency of copying as like as I submitting so many articles earlier satisfactorily and I am very particular in submitting articles to keep my profession in progress. I approached to Mr. Charles Livingston (iwriter customer care specialist) repeatedly to inform me the particular article which was copied. But no response was received. Surprisingly to note that for the same reason after a long gap my account has been seized from 1st August 2012. Actually I expect a specific reason for banning my account with the remuneration of huge amount and my fault.
There are little projects left in iWriter already, unlike before. It is already used by many people to make money off other writers by making writer accounts and getting projects and compensating those writers with lower rate than the iWriter rate.
The worst part is, iWriter blocked my IP for no reason at all. They even said they couldn't change it. They should block the IPs for those that are using iWriter for their own gain. If you're wondering why you're getting a 403 error, your IP's blocked.
Can i use my rejected articles for other requesters? if the topic is almost similar or common?
Yes you can do that. You have absolute control of what to do if the article is rejected by the requester.
I had been writing for iwriter.com for a while but now i can not access my account. Every time i try i get this message-You don't have permission to access. I have lost several dollars thatnks to iwriter.com
Even my articles were rejected and silly reasons stated, but i found that my articles were used on the website they needed it written for. I stopped writing. I would have become a Premium writer by now, if not for those string of rejections.
I really got put off, by the website itself.
But now, I am choosing requesters very carefully. Sadly, there are not many with good approval rates. It will show me assignments available for Premium and Elite writers, but not let me write it. This is too depressing, for I felt I missed out on many good niche articles.
I am increasingly frustrated by iwriter. Not only are they the only site I've worked on that does not give writers a chance to revise, they are also one of the lowest paying. And now every assignment has the following message, "Sorry, all keywords listed under this project are currently in use by other writers" which means you can't even pick anything up.
I will keep checking if anything changes in hopes of one last payout (currently have about $9 in my account) but then I'm through.
Some months ago I used to make about 30 dollars a week in Iwriter and now I have 18 for about 3 months. There are not enough topics and the ones that are still there waiting do not deserve much attention as the requesters almost never approve the pieces writen.
Thanks for the review. It is a great site though and writers need to make sure they work around those disadvantages.
Not really they could just work for a site that doesn't suck.
Useful review. Do you write on iwriter?
yes i write occasionally on iwriter.com. Maybe you should try it some time.
It's become a common scam on iwriter for requesters to reject an article and then proceed to use it. Anyone who's had articles rejected should do an Internet search using the first sentence or so of the article, and notify iwriter if they find that there work has been used.
This happened to me recently. I have been writing for iwriter for several months now and was able to become an elite writer, so I got to claim higher-paying assignments. Five rejections from two writers brought me down by one star, which limited the type of assignments I could claim. I was growing suspicious about this and did a search on the Internet. Lo and behold, four of the rejected articles were indeed published under two different writers' names. With a little research and by connecting the dots, I came to the conclusion that this was one and the same person. I had notified the thief and iwriter about this, as well as the site owners on which my articles appear. If I get really p****d, I will get in touch with the affiliate company that thief has linked my articles to. So writers who wish to work with iwriter, be very careful and if you do get plagiarized, take the necessary steps to rectify it.
As an interesting side note, there is a list of the highest rated writers as well as the ones who create the most content. The list of the most prolific writers on iwriter has only one person who is also listed on the top rated writers.
In other words, those who put out the largest amount of work are also those who are ranked in the lower ratings. Chances are very good that you're going to get writing from those who write the most, but who are ranked lower for poor content.
